Kurt Smith is a graduate of Va Commonwealth University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Addiction and Rehabilitation Counseling in 1996 and his Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2001. Kurt has been a professional Social Worker since 2001. He currently holds the following designations: Master Social Worker (LMHP-S) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). Kurt has worked in the mental health and substance use disorder field in various roles and capacities for the past 30 years. Kurt has experience in various roles throughout his career to include clinical management, medical social work, community and residential based programs, inpatient, and outpatient settings with diverse populations.

Kurt has worked with River City Comprehensive Counseling for many years as a clinician with adolescents, children,and adults with co-occurring disorders. Kurt’s passion for helping others, his lived experience as a person in long term recovery from substance use disorder, and calming presence allow him to connect and build rapport with clients effortlessly.

Kurt currently resides in the northside area of Richmond Va where he grew up. Kurt enjoys watching sports, playing golf, fishing, kayaking and spending time with his family, 2 beagles, and friends. He is a dedicated husband, father, and a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.
