Kim Engleman grew up in the Shenandoah Valley area and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995 with a BFA. Kim is currently working towards her CSAC at J Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Kim has a background in art, teaching, mentoring, mental health counseling, and fitness. She has worked in the mental health field for over 19 years with diverse populations, as a day treatment counselor in public schools, with adolescents in the residential setting, and with adults in the community, recovery, and treatment settings. Kim has utilized both her art and fitness training to implement creative and therapeutic interventions for individuals struggling with mental health and substance use disorders.

As a person in long term recovery from substance use disorder, Kim brings her experience, strength, and hope to individuals with co-occurring disorders. The majority of Kim’s career has been focused on helping others through her lived experience in recovery, love and passion for helping people, and creativity. Kim believes in thinking outside of the box when working with the individuals she serves. She is a certified TRX fitness instructor, ISSA personal trainer, LEAN coach at the YMCA, and a volunteer running coach for various training teams for Sportsbackers of Richmond. Kim is also the co-founder and vice president of River City Run Club, a recovery run club focused on promoting health and wellness to the recovery community.

She enjoys spending time with her family and 2 dogs, dancing, running, spending time outside, and making art.
