Deanna graduated from Old Dominion University’s CACREP-accredited masters in counseling program in December 2021. While a student, she completed her counseling practicum at ODU’s Office of Counseling Services, and her internship at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center. Her practicum allowed her to work with clients first encountering or attempting to maintain mental health concerns, while her internship provided her with opportunities to work with clients who were often experiencing some of the most significant struggles or crises of their lives - a fact she does not take lightly and which continues to remind her the importance of her own gratitude and humility.

What Deanna brings to the River City team is a person-centered approach that aims to provide a safe and secure space for clients to feel accepted and gain motivation and insight towards change. It is her belief that by building and maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance through the core conditions of empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, she can provide an experience in which clients may feel truly seen, and, in turn, see themselves.

Deanna currently works as Intensive Outpatient Program Director and Criminal Justice Liaison.
